The Triple T: Tim’s Top Three

For those unfamiliar with my article, I will be listing my three favorite players at each position – two of my favorite higher-priced guys and my favorite “value” play. The top three plays at each position can also be used for cash games. As it relates to that value play, I am using Fanduel players priced around $3000 on that site as a gauge, but the plays can be applied to both sites, unless otherwise noted. Please note that these are NOT the only plays I like, but I can’t list everyone and truly try to narrow down the field as much as possible. Use these plays along with your own research!

Top Three Pitchers

Pitcher (No order):

Boom-or-bust: Gilbert, Suarez, C Hernandez (DK)

Notes: We have Cole and Eovaldi facing off tonight and while both guys have been awesome of late, I think I am going to avoid this matchup on both sides. Both offenses are pretty good and there is not much margin for error in their prices especially with a lot of big bats to pay for. Cease is priced much lower and has as much upside as the guys at the top, at least point-per-dollar wise. He sports the highest swinging strike rate on the slate over the last month. Gilbert should be popular, especially on DK as his price seems a little too low. I do like him but there are some other guys in that range like Suarez and Hernandez that provide some nice pivots if you wanted to fade the Gilbert chalk.

2nd Base:
T Turner

3rd Base:
J Turner

T Turner

Top Team Stacks (both sites, no order):

Giants (Yaz/Belt/Crawford/Bryant/Posey/Wade) –  The Giants get a mediocre-at-best Lambert at Coors. The Giants have been a top three team to righties all season so there isn’t much of a reason to fade this team at Coors in a great spot. Look to get different elsewhere.

Dodgers (Turner/Betts/Muncy/Seager/Turner) – Should be the second highest owned team behind the Giants as they get a pretty weak Castellanos in Arizona.

Rays (Meadows/Cruz/Choi/Lowe/Franco) – Their .192 ISO is 5th in the league over the last month and now get a mediocre rookie in Cabrera, a matchup they should be able to handle just fine.

Boom-or-Bust/Under The Radar Stack(s):

Jays (Guerrero/Bichette/Hernandez/Springer/Semien) – With their prices, shouldn’t have much ownership as people look to jam in some Giants, Dodgers, and Rays. Ober hasn’t been terrible but he did get smashed in this same spot last time out.

Phillies (Harper/McCutchen/Realmuto/Segura/Galvis) –  One of the worst bullpens in the majors is having a “bullpen day”. You know what that means.

Brewers (Yelich/Wong/Escobar/Narvaez/Garcia) – I don’t think this team has ANY ownership and admittedly is probably a reach play but you know me, I always like to have one “oddball” stack. Megill has been really good this season BUT he has a real issue with lefties and this team can roll out a bunch of good ones. He is allowing a HUGE 52% flyball rate to lefties compared to just 30% to righties and has an xfip over 5.00 to lefties compared to under 3.00 to righties!

Bonus: Atl (Freeman/Albies/Riley/Soler/Duvall)

As always, remember to make sure these players are indeed in the lineup and that weather is okay. Don’t forget that baseball is by far the highest variance sport but by truly digging in to the numbers and turning over every stone, we can mitigate that variance.  Please follow Top Flight Fantasy Sports on Twitter and Facebook if you haven’t already and good luck!
