The Triple T: Tim’s Top Three

For those unfamiliar with my article, I will be listing my three favorite players at each position – two of my favorite higher-priced guys and my favorite “value” play. The top three plays at each position can also be used for cash games. As it relates to that value play, I am using Fanduel players priced around $3000 on that site as a gauge, but the plays can be applied to both sites, unless otherwise noted. Please note that these are NOT the only plays I like, but I can’t list everyone and truly try to narrow down the field as much as possible. Use these plays along with your own research!

Top Three Pitchers

Pitcher (No order):
Cole
Giolito
Eovaldi (DK)/Montas (FD)

Boom-or-bust: Fedde, Kowar (only deep DK GPP play)

Notes: It is hard to argue with what Cole has done over the last couple months as he is locked in but he is the priciest guy on the board. I do think there is a lot of value out there to fit him if you want but we do have some other arms that can SORT of keep up with him if their night goes well. Cole is prone to give up a long ball or two so he isn’t without risk, especially in Camden but all things considered, he does have one of the best matchups on the board. Montas would probably be my next guy in against KC in a very favorable pitching environment. KC doesn’t strikeout a ton but they offer very little power outside of a couple guys. Montas’ 14% swinging strike rate over the last month is third on the slate right behind Cole’s 16%. Speaking of which, Giolito leads the slate in swinging strike rate over the last month with 19% and his 30% K rate is second behind Cole’s 36% so the upside is there. He is coming off injury but he shouldn’t be too limited given that it was a hammy and not an arm injury though the White Sox could choose to be cautious so we should be too.

Top Team Stacks (both sites, no order):

Yankees (Judge/Stanton/Voit/Gallo/Rizzo) –

Giants (Wade/Belt/Crawford/Yaz/Logoria)

Astros (Alvarez/Tucker/Correa/Altuve/Bregman) –

Boom-or-Bust/Under The Radar Stack(s):

CHW (Jimenez/Abreu/Grandal/Anderson/Robert) – Death, taxes, and White Sox against lefties. “Packy Naughton” has held his own thus far including in two starts against the Padres but tonight in Guaranteed Rate Field, the wind is blowing out and these Sox righties could put on a clinic.

Blue Jays (Guerrero/Bichette/Hernandez/Semien/Springer) –   Rasmussen hasn’t been bad but he isn’t making bats miss (15% strikeout and 8% swinging strike over the last month) and any time this team is making contact, there is potential to be had.

Nationals (Thomas/Escobar/Bell/Soto/Kieboom) – I was torn here between the Nats and the Phillies and will have exposure to both. Since it is a GPP article and I expect the Nats to be lower owned, I ultimately listed them though I like both stacks. Sampson has allowed 95 and 96mph exit velocity over his last two starts and is allowing huge hard contact to lefties so a Harper/Didi/Miller stack makes sense, especially with a wind blowing out there in Citizens.

As always, remember to make sure these players are indeed in the lineup and that weather is okay. Don’t forget that baseball is by far the highest variance sport but by truly digging in to the numbers and turning over every stone, we can mitigate that variance.  Please follow Top Flight Fantasy Sports on Twitter and Facebook if you haven’t already and good luck!
