Article Overview:

Welcome to Left Turns -NASCAR DFS Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel write-up at Top Flight Fantasy Sports. Besides this article, we at Top Flight Fantasy Sports have the DraftKings NASCAR Control Tower & FanDuel NASCAR Control Tower putting tons of stats, projections, and proprietary grades in everyone’s hands. We also have a NASCAR DraftKings Optimizer & NASCAR FanDuel Optimizer that will be a huge help with all of the MME this season. And let’s be real about this – NASCAR is an MME sport. I know not everyone can play MME, so below I give you the plays I like best every week. You can use these plays as your core for MME as well.

GEICO 500 Race Details:

Track: Talladega Super Speedway

Type: Super Speedway (2.66 miles)

Time: Sunday, April 25 @ 2:00 pm EST

Super Speedways are a rare breed when it comes to racing. Talladega is no exception. With this being a short race lap wise, we won’t be focusing on dominator points. We will want to look for Place Differential more than anything. One of the other things that we can look to help us out here is that we see a “Big One” with the cars in the back benefiting. When we see that sort of track, we tend to want to play drivers from the back. Talladega is often a race where we want to #stacktheback and we can apply that for this race for sure.

This doesn’t mean we will only look at drivers who are starting 30-40. This is even more true when the lineup is set using a formula. you will probably want to build around drivers who you think will win the race, and then all PD drivers thereafter. This is also not a race where you need to worry about how much money you have left over.

The Dominators

These are your higher price drivers for NASCAR DFS. Depending on the race, and where they are starting, they are more than likely chalk.

This is a pretty straight forward group here, and I’m not going to spend a lot of time on it. We want to play drivers here if we think they will get the win, plain and simple. Between the 2 sites, we have 5 drivers who fall into this grouping.

Brad Keselowski is the highest priced driver this week, and will be starting 10th. I like this play more than the rest of the drivers here because he has decent PD potential as well as win potential. He has 2 wins here in the last 10 races.

Ryan Blaney has won 2 of the last 3 Talladega races. he starts this race from the 7th position and has decent PD potential as well.

You could consider Chase Elliott as a potential winner in this one starting from the 8th position. He gives similar PD potential to Blaney, but comes in a little cheaper on FanDuel. He won a race here in 2019  and has 5 total top 10 finishes in 10 Talladega races.

Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano are starting this race 1st and 2nd. Hamlin won the playoff race here last season after starting that one from the pole. He’s finished in the top 10 six times in the last 10 races. Logano has 2 wins in the last 10 Talladega races and a total of five top 10 finishes.

The Contenders

The mid-range drivers for NASCAR DFS. These drivers have top 5 potential and will often see some decent ownership.

For this range, we’re looking for the meat of our lineups this weekend. Drivers who are starting far enough back that we think they will help with Place Differential are the ones we will target.

Aric Almirola is starting 14th, which is far enough back that I think he works for us. He’s raced better than all drivers here in the last 10 races with 8 top 10 finishes, one of those being a win.

I like Ricky Stenhouse Jr starting 17th this weekend. He’s been driving like he means it this season so far, and has not only 6 top 10 finishes at Talladega, but also a win here as well. Hopefully he can continue to stay on the track this week!

Starting 15th this week is Kurt Busch. KuBusch is still looking for a win here, but has 6 top 10 finishes in his last 10 races here. He should give us some PD, especially if the top guys wreck out.

A little lower in this price range, I like Ryan Newman. He has 5 top 10 finishes in his last 10 races here. Newman is starting back in 28th and gives us huge PD potential as well.

The Pack

Your lower tier priced players on both sites. These guys more than likely won’t win the race. Here we will target drivers who will get us points through Place Differential for NASCAR DFS.

Chris Buescher is one of my favorite drivers to play this season. He’s been racing well this season so far. He’s starting 21st this week, but I think the speed he’s shown this season could mean a ton of PD for us.

Starting back in 24th is Bubba Wallace. Wallace has raced decently here in the past with pretty bad equipment. This year he is in good equipment and we could see him really shine this weekend.

Ryan Preece has raced here 4 tims in the cup series, with 2 top 10 finishes. He’s starting 29th and could make some good moves as well since he’s shown decent speed this season.

The Yellow Flags

These are your deep punts – use with caution! They will help you fit the high-price drivers but may not do much more for NASCAR DFS. Minimize their use in your lineups. Do not use in cash!

There’s really no reason to play anyone from down here, but I think Kaz Grala is an interesting play. You could definitely use him on either site.

Good luck and have fun but remember that NASCAR is an extremely volatile sport. Never go a full 100% on any driver.
