Fanduel & DraftKings Picks-

Chiesa vs Magny

I am an UFC/MMA super fan and usually play UFC DFS strictly on Draftkings. I play 5 lines per event and try to have exposure to just about every fighter based solely on the unpredictability of the sport. Its time to get into UFC DFS picks for UFC Fight Island 8 Chiesa vs Magny.

UFC DFS Overview and Exposure for UFC Fight Island 8 Chiesa vs Magny:

Chiesa (16-4) vs Magny (24-7):

This should be an awesome main event. 2 tough veterans on winning streaks doesn’t get much better than that. Chiesa has won 3 in a row coming in. He has 11 sub wins to his credit and isn’t much of a striker so he will want to get this to the ground. Magny is also on a 3 fight win streak he only has 10 finishes to his credit, so he goes to the judges a lot. I will have a lot of exposure to this fight for both guys but I can see it going to a decision.

Alves (13-4) vs Lazzez (10-1):

Alves is in a bit of a slump as of late losing 2 of 3. Lazzez is a beast with 8 wins by tko/ko and has never been finished. He also has a 4 inch reach advantage. I will have a lot of Lazzez as I feel he will get the tko win.

Villanueva (16-11) vs Moreira (9-4):

Villa has lost 2 in a row coming in. He is a kill or be killed fighter. He has 13 wins by tko but has been finished 10 times. Moreira has lost 3 in a row coming in and all 3 were by finish. 8 of his 9 wins are by way of sub. This is a big contrast in styles and I have no idea how this fight will go but I will have some exposure to both guys as I do think there will a finish one way or the other.

Modafferi (25-17) vs Araujo (9-2):

Moda is super tough and has an insane amount of experience but she isn’t very exciting or flashy. Araujo has 7 finishes to her credit but will have her hands full. I will do my best to fade this fight as I feel there wont be a lot of points for either lady.

Nam (20-11-1) vs Schnell (14-5):

Nam is on a 2 fight streak and has lightning quick, powerful striking, posting 12 tko wins. Schnell has 8 sub wins and has been tko’d 3 times. If it stays standing then I favor Nam without question but if it gets to the ground Schnell has a slick submission game. I will have some of both fighters but lean more towards Nam.

Murphy (9-0-1) vs de Andrade (26-3):

This is one of my personal favorite fights on this card. Murphy is a power striker with 6 tko wins, de Andrade has way more experience and has good striking also with 19 tko victories! Andrade is on a bit of a skid going 4-3 in his last 7 and is at 5 inch reach disadvantage. I will have a lot of exposure to both guys due to the high volume of strikes but do lean towards Murphy getting it done.

Akhmedov (20-5-1) vs Breese (12-2):

This should be a good one! Akhmedov is a tough draw for anyone and has a ton of experience. He has won 5 of 6 coming in and is well rounded. Breese has 11 finishes on his resume and is also well rounded. To me, this is a coin flip and I will have some of both guys.

Simon (16-3) vs Pirrello (15-5-1):

Simon is an accomplished wrestler but only has 7 finishes. I don’t know a lot about Pirrello but he does have 11 tko wins and is a huge underdog. I will have some of both guys.

Mudajeri (13-4) vs Adashev (3-2):

Mudajeri is a beast with his striking. He has 11 wins by tko and also has a 7 inch reach advantage! Adashev doesn’t have a lot of experience and lost in :32 in his UFC debut. I have to go all Mudajeri in this one.

Lungiambula (10-2) vs Perez (12-4):

Lung has 6 finishes, 3 by sub and 3 by tko, Perez has lost 2 in a row but has 9 finished with 6 of those by sub. Flip a coin. I may have a little exposure to this one but don’t really trust either guy to do anything spectacular.

Rivera (10-3) vs Figueiredo (11-3-1):

Rivera has 7 submission wins and has also been finished in all 3 of his losses. Fig is making his UFC debut on a 2 fight win streak and has 10 finishes with 7 subs also. I may have a little exposure to Fig but thats about it.

Davis (8-2) vs Jones (10-0):

Davis is a beast! He lost his debut to Burns who is no slouch and then KO’d his next opponent. All wins are by finish and 7 by tko/ko! Jones is making his debut as a monster underdog but he does has 7 finishes to his credit. I will have a lot of exposure to this fight but lean towards Davis.

Nurmagomedov (12-0) vs Morozov (16-3):

Nurm has 5 sub wins and is making his debut. Morozov is on a 5 fight win streak and has 11 finishes but is a huge underdog. I will have a lot of exposure to this fight.

Leonardo (8-2) vs Fiorot (5-1):

Should be a nice women’s scrap to kick off the card. Leonardo has the experience and has 4 sub wins. Fiorot has won 4 in a row and has 4 tko wins. I don’t know a lot about either lady but it seems like a contrast in styles type of fight. I will have some slight exposure to this one.

($9000) He is on a roll and has superior striking. I’m locking him in

($9300) A bit pricey but if locked in with a couple sleepers he should pay off

($8500) He is a bit more risky as he is making his debut but I don’t see him losing this fight

Toss ups:

These guys are both extremely experienced and have been in lots of wars over the years. The line on this one is extremely close with Chiesa being a slight dog. I do think that Chiesa will win this one and being that he is the underdog I will lock in his salary in several lines. Also note that this is a 5 rounder so the volume of stats will add up for both guys.

The line on this one is also extremely tight. I lean towards Villa winning just because Moreira has been knocked out so many times, but if Mor can weather the storm and get it to the ground he will win. Both of these guys are fighting for their jobs more than likely so there is a lot at stake and will bring out the best in both of them.

($6800) Please proceed with caution on this one. I don’t know a lot about him and his making his debut but he has KO power in his hands and Simon has shown that he can’t take punches very well.

($6700) Proceed with caution with this one also but has experience and is on a roll but he will have his hands full with the Russian sambo style.

($7500) and ($7900) I was actually surprised to see them as underdogs. They have both been in wars and are both super tough. They won’t be easy wins but they are perfectly capable of getting the job done.
