Single Game NFL DFS Advice: Chargers @ Saints

Single Game NFL DFS

Single Game NFL DFS Advice:

Here we discuss the NFL single game DFS slates for Monday Night Football, Thursday Night Football, and Sunday Night Football, and the strategies on how to attack them.  These types of slates vary from game to game but the strategies tend to be pretty similar. Most people want to get their hands on both quarterbacks in NFL single game DFS lineups and if not then at least one. People rarely play both kickers or DST on single game NFL DFS slates. Vegas lines and player props play a huge part in building lineups as well. You’ll find updated Vegas odds here Vegas insider and player props DraftKings Player Props here. Last thing to think about is pairing a teammate with the captain/MVP spot and if playing both quarterbacks putting in a target for each. All of these strategies do make sense but finding ways to be different is how you will find your way on top of NFL single game DFS leaderboards.

Monday Night Football:  NFL DFS Chargers @ Saints Overview

We have a solid game coming up in my opinion with an O/U of 50 and the Saints being 7 point favorites. We were expecting to get a game time decision on Michael Thomas due to injury, but he will be out due to punching a teammate at practice.  Jared Cook and Mike Williams are the only bigger names we will need to monitor.

FanDuel Single Game MVP

1. Alvin Kamara

I really don’t need to get too much into this pick. Michael Thomas is out again and we have seen what Kamara has done in these couple weeks without him. This will be by far the highest picked MVP in my opinion but it’s probably just something we have to deal with.

2. Justin Herbert

Justin Herbert has looked like a rookie so far throwing an interception in every game he’s played in so far. That being said he shown a lot of potential and glimmers of being a future star. I like Herbert not only for the discount from Brees but also he gives us some rushing attempts every game getting 10+ yards a game. While that may not be anything special pair that with his average 300 yards passing a game against this saints defense and we can have a winner.

3. Latavius Murray

My contrarian pick this game is a solid flex option and some may think I am crazy for even considering him in the MVP. While I wouldn’t take this chance on 1 or 2 lines if I am entering quite a bit then I would throw this in a few. Since Michael Thomas has been out Kamara has been half running back half receiver, which has given Murray double digit carries both games and he scored 2 touchdowns last week. Once again solid flex play and worth the MVP punt if playing multiple lines.

DraftKings Single Game Captain

1. Alvin Kamara

2. Justin Herbert

3. Keenan Allen

On DK I think Allen’s price may scare a lot of people from taking him at Captain especially with Kamara being on the field. He has seen no less than 7 receptions and averaging 96 yards since Herbert has taken over and with the full PPR format that can pay off big against this defense. Pair all that with the fact he has the best WR/CB matchup of the night and we can see a slate breaker here.

FanDuel Single Game Flex Plays

1. Drew Brees

Both of these defenses have let the quarterback position have their way with them. Brees may be getting older and hasn’t truly shined this year but I think this game will be a shootout and that’s what Drew does. He would of taken Herberts spot on the MVP/Captain but with no Thomas Bree’s ceiling falls a bit.

2. Keenan Allen

3. Hunter Henry

So Henry hasn’t really came out strong this year and Herbert doesn’t seem to look his way too often. However he has done the most with what he has got and this week he gets a Saints team that has been killed by Tight Ends. New Orleans is allowing 8 catches, 82 yards and a touchdown on average to opposing tight ends. If Henry can get anywhere near that I would be happy with this pick.

4. Tre’Quan Smith

Picking between Smith and Sanders has been difficult so far with Thomas out. I am taking Smith on FD simply due to the discount off Sanders, and will do the opposite on DK where Sander is cheaper. Both have seen a similar target share and according to the Top Flight red zone report have similar red zone targets (Sanders 5, Smith 4).

Low Owned Single Game Punt Plays

Kickers are always an option in single games as we don’t know what will happen with that and I usually like them in games that are expected to be high scoring.

1. Justin Jackson

A few weeks ago we were complaining that Joshua Kelley was getting too many snaps compared to Eckler. Now the script has been flipped and Jackson is digging into Kelley’s time. They have had close to a 50/50 time share here and I expect that to continue tonight. With a huge price discount I will be taking my chances on Jackson over Kelley. I actually consider this a safer value play more than a punt.

2. Jalen Guyton

When we talk punt plays we usually speak of guys that can get you 10-20 points or it’s just as possible to get you 0-2 points. That is exactly what Guyton is coming in with only 1.75 targets a game he is not a floor player by any means but he has scored in 2 of 4 games. If you are looking for a boom or bust play this is your guy.

Thank you all for reading! Remember to not pay too much attention to left over salary in single game NFL DFS. Don’t be afraid to have 4 from one team and only 1 from another. It is scary sometimes seeing that you don’t have balance between the two teams but these single games are basically like the lottery and having something like that can be the winning ticket.
