The Links – PGA Picks for The Tour Championship and FedEx Cup

FedEx Cup/Tour Championship  – PGA Picks

The Links brings you the very best in PGA Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel, or just Fantasy Golf in general.  Hours are spent researching, rankings, and picking the best players for both DraftKings and FanDuel, so you can dominate the PGA Contets in DFS this week.  This is a weekly article and one of our pieces of cornerstone content to the site.  PGA is basically a 12 month a year sport, and we’ll give you a weekly article to help you dominate your Daily Fantasy slates.

Mile High Overview

So lets get this out of the way, if you’re a casual golfer this one is not for the weak of heart.  30 man, no cut field.  There is a staggered scoring system in place this week that both sites will honor.  It’s being way over thought though in my personal opinion.  Yes, Justin Thomas walks into this week with a 2 shot lead, and 30 points right off the bat for being in the lead.  But a 2 shot lead is nothing to some of these guys when you have 4 rounds to make it up.  I think, or at least hope, a lot of people will make the mistake of going way overweight on Thomas thinking this is a slam dunk win for him.

It’s not.  The guys behind him are some of the best golfers on the planet, Cantlay, Koepka, McIlroy, Rahm can all catch him on day 1 if they get hot and he doesn’t.  This thing is far from a closed book already.

As far as pricing this week, we got some weird ones, especially on DK.  Justin Thomas is 15.5, highest golfer price of the season by a mile.  We also have a min salary now of 5,000 instead of 6k.  Should make for some very interesting build opportunities.

Roster Construction Thoughts

So this is entirely an MME week for me.  No cash, and single entry should only be used to offset the guys you went heavy on in MME.  I see a lot of talk about the guys in the back no having any chance, and that may be true.  They don’t have a chance to win this thing really…but they most certainly can get to a Top 10 finish, as they are only 4 strokes off that to start.

This ones all about game theory or in this case I guess “Tournament Theory”.  This tournament will go 1 of 2 ways.  Either Justin Thomas runs away with it from the start, and the Stars/Scrubs lines will win.  Or, Thomas stumbles and the balanced lineups win.

NOTE:  If you’re not comfortable with MME or optimizers, its okay to sit this week out.  This is far from a “must play” tournament.  And with NFL season right around the corner, saving your bankroll may be best if you’re a casual golf fan.

So this week I’m going to do things a lot differently than the normal format of this article.  I plan on laying out for you the exact order I like the 30 golfers in, along with my projections for their general ownership, and how exposed I would advise being to that golfer.

What you’ll notice below, is that I’m on the team fade Justin.  Look, I realize Justin is an amazing golfer…and I also realize he could completely run away with this.  But this week, you have to make a stand, and this is my stand.  I’m fading him almost entirely except for some hedge lines.  I’m also nearly entirely off Cantlay.  Sure, he would be the obvious 1st guy to point to after JT, but his history at East Lake is very poor.

The ownership projections I am giving here are my own feel on how they will fall, but I feel they’ll be fairly accurate.  I plan on completely fading the bottom 5 guys in my list here, again, just trying to make a stand.  I don’t see any upside down there for those guys.

I’ll be overweight on Rory, Koepka and Rahm this week, in hopes one of these monsters overtakes JT and gets the win.  At the very least, with them, I feel I’ll have 3 top 10 finishers.
