The Cross Check – DraftKings / FanDuel NHL Picks – February 27th, 2019

About the Article

The Cross Check is a daily article focusing on GPP DraftKings and FanDuel NHL Picks.  This will give you my favorite stacks, defensemen, goalies, and a couple of one-off players.  In hockey, having multiple lineups can be king.  You want to find the stacks you like, and balance out pairings with them to get as many combos of your favorite stacks as you can afford (play within your means always)

The Cross Check

Welcome to the 2018-2019 NHL Season. I’m honestly incredibly excited to be writing hockey articles this year, it seems there’s a real opportunity in this sport to win big if your stacks hit.  Some important thing I want to mention before we get started.  If you’re playing cash in hockey, it was vogue towards the end of last year to play the chalk stacks and chalk goalie.  Don’t over think that.  All that being said, Hockey leans itself more towards being a GPP only sport than any other sport I’ve played.  I like to enter multiple lines every night.  You don’t have to go crazy, there are some nice cheap multi-entry contests on both sites.  Always play within your means, don’t go “all in” no matter how confident we all feel.  DraftKings and FanDuel NHL Picks.

I have listed all cash plays in parenthesis. These are also great GPP Plays. Try to limit the number of players on the same team to 2 in cash games. Also, you can be different in your lineups by only picking 2 players from a line in GPPs.

Toronto will be heavy chalk here tonight, but I really dont see it. In cash games you should always play the chalk, so Tavares, Marner, and Rielly should be in your cash player pool. In GPP’s im going a different direction tonight. The EDM1 line isnt as bad defensively as people think (25 SCA, 8.5 HDCA, 49 CA/60), and I’m willing to take a chance to fade them on a small slate at severely high ownership.

NHL DFS  – Top Stacks

TB PP1 – Ondrej Palat / Steven Stamkos / Brayden Point (Cash) / Nikita Kucherov (Cash) / Victor Hedman (Cash)

I feel like a broken record here. Even though Tampa is on the road here tonight, they are in an awesome spot against the Rangers. Alexander Georgiev is also in net for the Ranger, which boosts them even more. Point and Kucherov belong in everyone’s cash games tonight. The Rangers have the 6th worst PK in the NHL and have allowed the 6th most power play goals in the NHL. The Lightning have the best PP in the NHL and Brayden Point is leading the league in power play goals. Smash Tampa tonight, regardless of ownership.

VAN2 – Tanner Pearson (Cheap) / Elias Pettersson / Brock Boeser

( FD Stack Price: 17k, DK Stack Price: 14.9K )

Colorado will also get a alot of attention tonight at home, and i’m on the other side here. The COL1 line has been terrible defensively in a smal sample. They are giving up 35 SCA and 19.2 HDCA/60. We have no full line data for this line as this will be Pearson’s first game with the Canucks. He is 3.2 on FD, and 2.8 on DK. With him, the other 2 are producing 5 GF, 28 SCF, and 11 HDCF/60 away from home this season.

EDM1 – Ryan Nugent Hopkins / Connor McDavid / Sam Gagner

( FD Stack Price: 18.3k, DK Stack Price: 16.9k )

Did yall see what BUF1 did to TOR1 the other night? I believe they scored 3 goals on them. Tonight this line should be hard matched versus that same TOR1 line. At home that line is giving up 2.1 GA, 32 SCA, 12 HDCA/60 and an insane 70 CA/60. Did i mention the best player in hockey is playing them tonight? This line without gagner is producing 3.2 GF, 31 SCF, and 12.1 HDCF/60 away from home this season. Mix in Draisaitl as he has been red hot lately.

CGY1  – Johnny Gaudreau (Cash) / Sean Monahan (Cash) / Elias Lindholm

( FD Stack Price: 21.7k, DK Stack Price: 20.2k )

This would be the other cash line to target here tonight. But I also love them for GPP’s. They are on the road versus a New Jersey team that just traded Johansson, and has 4 starts out with injuries tonight. They had to call up a bunch of kids from the AHL to play. This line should see the NJ1 line who is giving up 3.2 GA, 30 SCA, adn 16 HDCA/60. This line is producing 3.8 GF, 30 SCF, and 13 HDCF/60 away from home this season.

Top Goalies

DraftKings and FanDuel NHL Advice

Andrei Vasilevskiy ( 8.2 DK, 9.7 FD, Cash)

While extremly expensive on FD, there is little doubt that he gets a win here tonight. Just play him on DK.

David Rittich ( 8.3 DK, 7.9 FD )

Should be an easy win here. FD ONLY.
