The Cross Check – DraftKings / FanDuel NHL Picks – February 22nd, 2019

About the Article

The Cross Check is a daily article focusing on GPP DraftKings and FanDuel NHL Picks.  This will give you my favorite stacks, defensemen, goalies, and a couple of one-off players.  In hockey, having multiple lineups can be king.  You want to find the stacks you like, and balance out pairings with them to get as many combos of your favorite stacks as you can afford (play within your means always)

The Cross Check

Welcome to the 2018-2019 NHL Season. I’m honestly incredibly excited to be writing hockey articles this year, it seems there’s a real opportunity in this sport to win big if your stacks hit.  Some important thing I want to mention before we get started.  If you’re playing cash in hockey, it was vogue towards the end of last year to play the chalk stacks and chalk goalie.  Don’t over think that.  All that being said, Hockey leans itself more towards being a GPP only sport than any other sport I’ve played.  I like to enter multiple lines every night.  You don’t have to go crazy, there are some nice cheap multi-entry contests on both sites.  Always play within your means, don’t go “all in” no matter how confident we all feel.  DraftKings and FanDuel NHL Picks.

I have listed all cash plays in parenthesis. These are also great GPP Plays. Try to limit the number of players on the same team to 2 in cash games. Also, you can be different in your lineups by only picking 2 players from a line in GPPs.

NHL DFS  – Top Stacks

VGK1 – Jonathan Marchessault / William Karlsson / Reilly Smith

( FD Stack Price: 18.4k, DK Stack Price: 15.6k )

I absolutely love this line tonight. On DK, they are extremely too cheap for their matchup. Winnipeg has been horrible on the road since 1 January posting the 5th most GA/60, most SCA/60, and worst CA/60. All 3 top lines for Vegas are in play for me tonight, but this is my favorite one. They will hard match the WPG1 line who is giving up 4.6 GA, 31 SCA, and 14 HDCA/60 on the road this season. This line is producing 2.2 GF, 31 SCF, and 12.1 HDCF/60.

CBJ2- Josh Anderson (Cash) / Matt Duchene (Cash) / Nick Foligno

( FD Stack Price: 16.4k, DK Stack Price: 16.3k )

At the time of this writing, this line is pure speculation. Nothing has been confirmed from the beat writers. Duchene was just traded from OTT to CBJ and it so happens that CBJ is in OTT tonight. We need to watch out for line rushes prior to lock to ensure this is the line. I like whichever ever line Duchene is on tonight. This line would have the best matchup as they should see the OTT1 line who is giving up 2.2 GA, 22 SCA, and 10 HDCA/60.

CGY1  – Johnny Gaudreau (Cash) / Sean Monahan (Cash) / Matthew Tkachuk

( FD Stack Price: 20.6k, DK Stack Price: 18.7k )

CGY at home is almost an autoplay for me on every slate. Tonight they get a Ducks team that has given up the 6th most GA/60 on the road since 1 January. They should see the ANA1 line for the majority of the game. They are giving up 4.5 GA, 25 SCA, and 11 HDCA/60. This line is producing 2 GF, 41 SCF, and 19.9 HDCF/60 in 60 minutes of ice time together.

COL2 – Matthew Nieto (Cheap) / Carl Soderberg / Mikko Rantanen (Cash)

( FD Stack Price: 15k, DK Stack Price: 14.2K )

The other night this line had 6 points versus Winnipeg. Tonight they face a Chicago team that has given up the most goals in the NHL. Rantanen is the main target here as he is on the PP1 going against the worst pk in the NHL. Feel free to go with a Rantanen Landeskog Barrie trio if you want to stack the PP1.

Value Stacks-

VGK3- Max Pacioretty (Target) / Cody Eakin / Oscar Lindberg (Target)

( FD Stack Price: 14k, DK Stack Price: 12.4k )

CHI3- Brandon Saad / Artem Anisimov (Cheap) / Dylan Sikura (Cheap)

( FD Stack Price: 12.6k, DK Stack Price: 11.8k )

Top Goalies

DraftKings and FanDuel NHL Advice

Sergei Bobrovsky ( 8 DK, 8.7 FD, Cash)

Should be a slam dunk win in Ottawa tonight. More on DK here.

Mike Smith ( 8.4 DK, 7.9 FD, Cash )

The biggest home favorite on the slate. More on FD here.

Semyon Varlamov ( 7.5 DK, 7.6 FD )

GPP ONLY HERE. Definitely a risky pick here, but he has been really good over his past 10 games with a 93% SV% and 2.2 GAA.

Top Defense
