The Cross Check – DraftKings / FanDuel NHL Picks – December 17th, 2018

About the Article

The Cross Check is a daily article focusing on GPP DraftKings and FanDuel NHL Picks.  This will give you favorite stacks, defense men, goalies, and a couple of one off players.  In hockey, having multiple lineups can be king.  You want to find the stacks you like, and balance out pairings with them to get as many combos of your favorite stacks as you can afford (play within your means always)

The Cross Check

Welcome to the 2018-2019 NHL Season. I’m honestly incredibly excited to be writing hockey articles this year, it seems there’s a real opportunity in this sport to win big if your stacks hit.  Some important thing I want to mention before we get started.  If you’re playing cash in hockey, it was vogue towards the end of last year to play the chalk stacks and chalk goalie.  Don’t over think that.  All that being said, Hockey leans itself more towards being a GPP only sport than any other sport I’ve played.  I like to enter multiple lines every night.  You don’t have to go crazy, there are some nice cheap multi entry contests on both sites.  Always play within your means, don’t go “all in” no matter how confident we all feel.  DraftKings and FanDuel NHL Picks.

I have listed all cash plays in parenthesis. These are also great GPP Plays.

NHL DFS  – Top Stacks

COL1  – Gabriel Landeskog / Nathan MacKinnon (Cash) / Mikko Rantanen (Cash)

( FD Stack Price: 24.4k, DK Stack Price: 23.8k )

I feel like I copy and paste this every time Colorado is on the slate. This stack is extremely expensive. But also the best goal scoring line in all of hockey. They have scored 39 goals as a line, that 10 more than the next closest line. This line has multi goal upside every time they are on the ice. Tonight, they are facing a Islanders team that is nothing to be scared of. I think they will see a lot of the depth lines for the Islanders tonight, and that a good thing. This line is producing 4 GF, 29 SCF, and 11 HDCF/60, while converting 20% of those high danger chances.

PIT1 – Jake Guentzel (Cash) / Sidney Crosby / Bryan Rust (Cash)

( FD Stack Price: 19.9k, DK Stack Price: 19k )

This line has one of the best even strength match-up on the slate. They should match the ANA1 line.  In the limited 35 minute sample, that line is giving up 3.3 GA, 38 SCA, and 25 HDCA/60. Bryan Rust is extremely cheap on both sites, and should be in everyone’s Cash Games tonight. I will be heavily exposed to this line tonight.. Especially Bryan Rust.

BOSPP – Brad Marchand (Cash)  / David Backes (Cash) / David Pastrnak (Cash) / Ryan Donato (Cash) / Torey Krug (Cash)

Mixing in a BOS PP stack is a way to be a bit different tonight. Backes and Donato are extremely cheap on both sides.  only draw back is that they are all listed as Wingers on both sites. Could be a way to fit a great spot in with the expensive COL1 line. Donato and Backes are filler cash guys. No need to Jam them in. Boston has the 6th best PP% in the NHL, going up against the 8th worst PK% in the NHL. I also like the BOS1 line here with Pastrnak, Marchand, and Krecji.

Value Stacks-

NSH1 – Kevin Fiala  / Ryan Johansen (Cash) / Ryan Hartman (Cash)

( FD Stack Price: 13.6k, DK Stack Price: 15k )

CBJ2 Josh Anderson (Cash) / Boone Jenner (Cash) / Nick Foligno

( FD Stack Price: 13.9k, DK Stack Price: 13.2k )

Top Goalies

DraftKings and FanDuel NHL Advice

Casey DeSmith ( 8.2 DK, 8.3 FD, Cash )

Huge Home favorite vs ANA, who has scored the 4th fewest goals in the NHL.

Semyon Varlamov ( 8.3 DK, 8.6 FD, Cash)

Biggest home favorite on the slate. Should be an easy win here.

Craig Anderson ( 6.9 DK, 7.9 FD, GPP ONLY)

This is an extremely risky play here, and more so on DK as he is under 7K. BOOM/BUST option.
